Smoky Quartz is a dark variety of Clear Quartz crystal. The color of Smoky Quartz comes from the presence of aluminum. The darker varieties are often artificially coloured with Gamma radiation. The beautiful natural dark points are often called Morion Quartz.

Smoky Quartz is found in Kazakhstan, Brazil and the US. Morion Quartz is found in Kazakhstan, Portugal and South Africa.
